AI Governance as competitive
strategy.
We help AI teams embed governance into how they build, turning AI regulatory constraints into clear decisions, credible evidence, and product momentum. That is a judgement, framing, and strategy task. It is inherently human, high-context, and relational.
By 'AI Governance' we mean the regulatory expectations
shaping your product design and operations.
We work hands-on and prioritise teams ready to implement. Following your consultation request, we will respond with next steps, typically a short call. After that, we will confirm a clear yes/no promptly.
Result
Build credibility early
Turn AI governance into tangible product decisions
now – so you do not pay for retrofits later.
- › Clear risk posture you can explain
- › Evidence plan that fits your roadmap
What we do
Stop treating governance as a blocker; treat it as a quality signal. At AIffect, we help you change how you think about governance – reframing it from liability management to competitive advantage, from compliance burden to product design input, from retrofit to architecture.

Who we are
We built AIffect because we kept seeing the same pattern: AI teams with strong products and weak answers to the governance questions that investors, buyers, and regulators are starting to ask. We bring together product-strategy thinking, European regulatory fluency, and operational experience from EU and UN programmes on AI, digitalisation, and regulatory governance; and we work with only a small number of clients where that combination matters most.
Dr Gert Hilgers works at the intersection of AI systems, digital policy, and the regulatory frameworks shaping how technology is built and adopted in Europe. His practice centres on translating between technical realities and strategic decisions – informed by work on European and international digital governance programmes, including expert advisory for European Commission programmes on digital transformation and co-leadership of the Interoperability track at the UN Global Initiative for Virtual Worlds and AI. Principal Advisor at Interveo.
Dr Ivy Yang turns European AI regulation into product-level decisions. She combines EU AI and digital policy expertise (incl. her PhD research) with hands-on experience in SaaS business development and operational governance, bridging the gap between what regulation requires and what teams can actually implement. Co-lead of the UN U4SSC Working Group on the Policy and Practice of Organizational Interoperability.
Notes
At AIffect, we work with a small number of clients at a time. Every engagement is senior-led, there is no team behind us handing off the work to. If there is a fit, you will hear a clear yes or no quickly.
Legal counsel protects your liability. We protect your momentum. We translate regulatory requirements into product decisions, evidence plans, and operational routines – working alongside legal counsel where needed, not instead of it. Our output is a governance approach your team can sustain; not just another document detached from your operational realities.
Because trust is becoming measurable. In Europe, the Brussels Effect shapes expectations beyond the EU - and investors and buyers increasingly reward teams that can explain their systems, show credible controls, and reduce unpleasant surprises.
We are based in Berlin (DE) and work remotely with clients across Europe and internationally. Where it makes sense, we work on-site with you and your team – particularly for workshops and decision-intensive sessions.
Make trust a competitive advantage.
Hands-on advisory for founders, investors, and product teams navigating AI governance expectations. We help you embed governance into your product design, making it part of your product strategy.
